What’s the difference between ‘want’ and ‘need’?

Aside from the obvious.

I want to go to the beach.

I need oxygen to survive.

I’ve got a craving.

We all have them.

And I’m wondering if this is just a want, or a need.

Wants are easy to deal with.

I want to go to the beach. But I have to work this weekend.

I need oxygen to survive. Pretty definitive. No buts or howevers are gonna get through that net.

I can deal with need.

Nah. Pretty sure it’s a want.
